How can I stay out of jail?

If you are arrested, you will need to post bail if you are not released on your own recognizance (written promise to appear). In order to maintain your freedom you must make all of your scheduled court appearances, and comply with the terms of your release. If you fail to make your court appearances, or do not comply with the terms of your release, or you are arrested and charged with new crimes, your bail status may be revoked and you may be returned to custody. Additionally, if you commit new crimes while your case is pending, an enhancement may apply which would increase the maximum time of incarceration on your case.
